"Spiritual" Songs

Last but not least in my latest series of posts, there's this set of "Spiritual" Songs. Ironically, the overwhelming majority of them are by "secular" artists. But that doesn't diminish the songs' value (or enhance it) in any way. There's some really good stuff to be heard here! Enjoy!  ~  JH

1)  Jukebox The Ghost  ~  “The Spiritual”

2)  Eric Benet  ~  “Spiritual Thang”

3)  Moodswings ft. Chrissie Hynde  ~  “Spiritual High (State Of Independence)”

4)  Paul Wardingham  ~  “Spiritual Machines”

5)  John Coltrane  ~  “Spiritual”

6)  Anya Skidan  ~  “Spiritual”

7)  Blitzen Trapper  ~  “Miss Spiritual Tramp”

8)  Strawberry Girls  ~  “Negro Spiritual”  (I have no clue what the title of this song has to do with the actual song. It certainly doesn’t describe the style of music accurately. Also, these musicians are super-white and they’re NOT girls. Makes no sense, but whatevs.)

9)  Laura Nyro  ~  “Mother’s Spiritual”

10)  Gordon Lightfoot  ~  “Rich Man’s Spiritual”

11)  Speech  ~  “Spiritual People”

12)  Spain ft. The Haden Triplets  ~  “Spiritual”

13)  Toots & The Maytals  ~  “Spiritual Healing”

14)  Bon Jovi  ~  “Spiritual Warfare”  (This music video, while titled “Spiritual Warfare,” is actually a medley – of sorts – of two differently-titled songs: “Living With The Ghost” and “Reunion”.)

15)  Katy Perry  ~  “Spiritual”

16)  Toto  ~  “Spiritual Man”

17)  Dirty Sweet  ~  “American Spiritual”

18)  Trin-I-Tee 5:7  ~  “Spiritual Love”

19)  Sean Rowe  ~  “Spiritual Leather”

20)  Stevie Wonder  ~  “Spiritual Walkers”

21)  S Club 7  ~  “Spiritual Love”

22)  Overkill  ~  “Spiritual Void"

23)  Land Of Talk  ~  “Spiritual Intimidation”

24)  Steppenwolf  ~  “Spiritual Fantasy”

25)  K Bleax  ~  “So Spiritual”

A Rigorous Retrospective Of Remarkable Reggae Songs, Vol. 2

If you liked yesterday's collection of reggae music, here's another set of 25 songs. I haven't planned on a Vol. 3, unless any of my reggae-loving friends want to suggest another batch of their favorite songs/artists I haven't featured yet. Which you're certainly welcome to do in the comments below. Enjoy!  ~  JH

1)  Horace Andy  ~  "You Are My Angel"

2)  Hugh Mundell & Augustus Pablo  ~  "In The Hills (Clean Up Your Heart)" / "Nature Provides"

4)  Lucky Dube  ~  "Prisoner"

5)  Gyptian  ~  "Serious Times"

6)  Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley  ~  "Affairs Of The Heart"

7)  SOJA  ~  "Rest Of My Life"

8)  Toots & The Maytals  ~  "Reggae Got Soul"

10)  Israel Vibration  ~  "My Master's Will"

11)  Culture  ~  "Addis Adabba"

12)  Ziggy Marley  ~  "Lighthouse"  (Not really all that reggae, but it's kinda beautiful nonetheless.)

14)  Morgan Heritage  ~  "Tell Me How Come"

15)  Beres Hammond  ~  "I Feel Good"

16)  Black Uhuru  ~  "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner"  (I wouldn't normally expect this level of guitar solo in a reggae song, but it's fantastic!)

17)  Tony Rebel  ~  "Fire"

19)  Benjah ft. Dillavou  ~  "Fly Away"

20)  Shelly Thunder  ~  "Break Up"
