NATO Phonetic Alphabet Songs

Some of you may be reading the title of this post and asking yourself (or me, remotely), "What the heck is the NATO Phonetic Alphabet?" While you may not know it by this name (it has a couple of other common names, which are equally clunky), you will probably recognize the concept. If you've ever watched a crime drama, for instance, you've likely heard a law enforcement officer spell out the letters of a license plate over a radio, only to have it sound something like "Victor-Bravo-Foxtrot-One-Zero-Seven." Each letter in the traditional alphabet has a word designation in this NATO Phonetic Alphabet, and one song of each of those letter-words is represented in this set. Because, why not? Enjoy!  ~  JH

Songs About Edible Chicken Parts, Vol. 2

Last time we met here, I indicated that I had found and compiled *the* 40 good songs with the names of various edible chicken parts in their titles. However, there are likely hundreds of good songs that would qualify. But I have neither the time nor the inclination to seek out all of them. “Wild” & “Crazy” Songs, Vol. 1

I've posted "Wild" Songs before. And "Crazy" ones, too. But never "Wild" & "Crazy" Songs together. And none of these songs appeared in either of those posts. So here they are...oh, and there were lots. So this'll be a three-parter. Enjoy!  ~  JH

1)  Alessia Cara  ~  “Wild Things”

2)  K-Ci & JoJo  ~  “Crazy”

3)  Gloriana  ~  “Wild At Heart”

15)  Beach House  ~  “Wild”

16)  The Vaselines  ~  “Crazy Lady”

17)  Hinder  ~  “Born To Be Wild”  (Some classics don’t need to be remade, and this song was certainly one of them. But I have to admit that this band did a really good job of staying faithful to the original while also putting their own distinctive mark on it.)

18)  Heart  ~  “Crazy On You”

19)  Faul & Wad  ~  “Wild Love”

20)  LeAnn Rimes  ~  “Crazy”  (Only one other person can sing Patsy Cline like Patsy Cline and that’s LeAnn Rimes. Case in point, this flawless cover.)

29)  Ladyhawke  ~  “Wild Things”

30)  The Osmonds  ~  “Crazy Horses”  (I’m kind of at a loss as to what to think of this song. Is it a precursor to heavy metal and therefore highly innovative? Or is it a pitiful, even comical attempt to be “cool” after establishing a reputation of only producing disposable bubblegum pop? Either way, here it is…)

31)  Kacey Musgraves  ~  “Love Is A Wild Thing”

32)  Francesca Battistelli  ~  “When The Crazy Kicks In”

33)  Escape Club  ~  “Wild, Wild West”
