Scott Weiland’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 1: The Stone Temple Pilots Years

Rock 'n' roll lost a unique talent last week. Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, was found dead on his tour bus on December 3rd. He was just 48 years old. Yet many who were familiar with his personal life weren't all that surprised that he died "before his time" – rather, many fans were surprised he lasted as long as he did. Scott was long plagued by problems with substance abuse, in addition to suffering from bipolar disorder. Regardless of how one may regard his personal life, it's virtually undeniable that Weiland left behind a wealth of great music. As a tribute to his music, of which I have been a fan for 20+ years (many songs have appeared on this blog previously), I present the following two-part series. First up, Scott's best-known songs with Stone Temple Pilots. Enjoy!  ~  JH
