Scott Weiland’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: Velvet Revolver, Other Projects, & Solo Work

As previously promised, here's part 2 of 2 in a series devoted to the music of the recently deceased Scott Weiland, rock star. What follows are his hit songs with Velvet Revolver, as well as a few songs he did with other bands and several of his solo songs. Aside from the Velvet Revolver songs, "Greatest Hits" might be a misnomer with these, as Weiland's solo work in particular was not super-successful, commercially speaking. But much of it was still worth a listen. So listen already! And maybe, just maybe...enjoy?  ~  JH

Scott Weiland’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 1: The Stone Temple Pilots Years

Rock 'n' roll lost a unique talent last week. Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, was found dead on his tour bus on December 3rd. He was just 48 years old. Yet many who were familiar with his personal life weren't all that surprised that he died "before his time" – rather, many fans were surprised he lasted as long as he did. Scott was long plagued by problems with substance abuse, in addition to suffering from bipolar disorder. Regardless of how one may regard his personal life, it's virtually undeniable that Weiland left behind a wealth of great music. As a tribute to his music, of which I have been a fan for 20+ years (many songs have appeared on this blog previously), I present the following two-part series. First up, Scott's best-known songs with Stone Temple Pilots. Enjoy!  ~  JH

1)  “Sex Type Thing”

2)  “Crackerman”

3)  “Plush”

4)  “Wicked Garden”

5)  “Creep”

6)  “Big Empty”
