Songs By Breast Cancer Survivors

In case you didn't already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I put together this post featuring Songs by Breast Cancer Survivors both to raise awareness of and to highlight a few notable survivors of the disease. You may know and recognize many of these faces, and you may be familiar with their voices. Over 260,000 people each year are diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. alone. Early detection is key. Don't delay...schedule your mammogram today!  ~  JH

1)  Sheryl Crow  ~  “Everyday Is A Winding Road”

2)  Kylie Minogue  ~  “Love At First Sight”

3)  Olivia Newton-John  ~  “I Honestly Love You”

4)  Carly Simon  ~  “You’re So Vain”  (I just found out that Mick Jagger contributed backup vocals to this iconic tune. Apropos of nothing, but interesting nonetheless.)

5)  Melissa Etheridge  ~  “Come To My Window”

6)  Anastacia  ~  “I’m Outta Love”

7)  Bif Naked  ~  “Lucky”

8)  Marianne Faithfull  ~  “As Tears Go By”

9)  Nanci Griffith  ~  “Once In A Very Blue Moon”

10)  Hayley Mills & Hayley Mills  ~  “Let’s Get Together”  (Yes, you read that right. The girl sings a duet with herself. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about…)

11)  Anita Doth (of 2 Unlimited)  ~  “No Limit”

12)  Peter Criss (with KISS)  ~  “Beth”  (In case you are under the mistaken belief that only women can get breast cancer, Peter Criss – who takes the lead on this classic KISS ballad – is here to prove you wrong.)

13)  Marsha Hunt  ~  “I Walk On Gilded Splinters”

14)  Ann Jillian  ~  “There’s A Winner In You”

15)  Rachel Platten  ~  “Fight Song”  (While it’s true that Rachel Platten has never suffered from breast cancer and come out on the other side, this song from three years ago has become a battle cry for those who have. I believe its message is an appropriate way to conclude this post.)
